Customizing Maternity Wear?

Title says it all. Is it possible? Some of the maternity outfits are really ugly..

Yep, kind of. Before pregnancy, you can select a second outfit via the dresser. The catch is, it MUST be one of the outfits pregnant sims can normally wear. But you can choose any of these, in any colour you like. Then have your sim wear this before the bump begins to show.
Hope this helps!

Yep exactly what Ruby said. I always do it right after I hear those chimes. :)
I suggest making sure you know exactly what outfits they can wear while pregnant. I'm pretty sure someone out there has a list of the clothing that is maternity wear.

EDIT: Here's a tutorial on how to do it :)

To make life easier why not just make your female Sims a second everyday and formal outfit choice that is maternity wear that you have customised. That way when you hear the chimes you just click on your Sim and get them to change outfit to everyday 2 for instance.

Here, this might help:

This is all of the base game maternity wear, with some minor recolouring. I had to double up on that T-Shirt so I could show you both pairs of pants because Justine Keaton's maternity jacket doesn't usually work for some reason. There aren't any restrictions on shoes or accessories, so you can mix and match a bit with those. I think some store stuff might also work, and of course there's CC but I don't recommend that.

Hmmm, I just realised kattiq already posted a link to them. Oh well  :-\.

Excellent!  I'll most certainly be using this info for my next Sim pregnancy.  The mismatched ugliness really bugs me.
