By joining our forum you agree to the following rules:
1. No hate speech or profanity. Kids read this. Enough said.
2. There's no reason to be unnecessarily rude to people. We all love The Sims 3, and can be friendly based on that common ground. After all, if you don't like something, you could just keep quiet.
3. Don't discuss piracy. Sorry, I can't help you with bugs and addons you can't get because your copy is pirated. Enjoy the forum but keep your piracy to yourself and understand that there should be some limitations. Go buy the game or ask for it as a present!
4. Please don't start fashion contests, vote for the next Legacy heir, who has the prettiest Sim, rate the avatar above you or largely useless topics like that. We want to discuss the game. If you want to do that, there's the official forum. You'll find a much larger audience there. We prefer to do challenges, and completing them gives us something fruitful to talk about. Create your own or try one of our members' created challenges. If you would like to start a blog thread, head to the stories board, as some of us really like to read them!
5. Spam will be deleted upon first notice by moderators. Be sure to never reply to it please. There is a proper board for advertising your Sims 3 site. Use it, and only for that purpose. Get opinions and share your site with our growing community.
6. Try to stay on topic. Some deviation is ok, but asking unrelated questions will result in a topic being split. Save us the trouble and post new questions that are totally irrelevant to the current conversation in a new thread. It'll also help your question to get answered faster.
7. Please use only black font. Having different colors creates too much of an inconsistent and unprofessional look, in addition to being hard to read.
8. Be careful that topics don't degenerate into "bashing Electronic Arts" threads. We understand that there are some frustrating issues with the game, but there's really nothing to be gained from just complaining and it brings down the mood of the board.
9. The official stand of Carl's Sims 3 Guide on mods (modifications to the game) and third party custom content are that they are very risky and we do not encourage or recommend their use. Many sites which host them also offer code designed to break the game's Teen rating. As a family friendly site, we cannot endorse any sites which link to such content. Please refrain from linking to or discussing mod sites or sites featuring adult content in general.
10. We want our forum to look clean and professional. Please take care to use correct spelling and grammar. I'll be happy to edit posts for those who don't speak English as their first language, but the rest of you don't have that excuse. Proper capitalization, spacing, and punctuation are all very important. Along these lines, please also note the following:
* No excessive use of punctuation marks and emoticons. Getting overly excited doesn't help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SmileySmileySmileySmileyCheesy:D:D * Do not use ALL CAPS as it denotes yelling and is difficult to read. * Use apostrophes when you're writing a contraction. * Put spaces after commas and periods. * Use capitals to start sentences and for "I" as needed. * Use the Preview button before posting to help reduce errors and typos. * It only takes one period to end a sentence, not 4 or 5..... Again, it makes things harder to read. * Please avoid one or two-word replies for a post. Along the same lines, please do not make the entirety of a post a smiley. This is a forum and we want everyone to communicate in full sentences.
11. Use of textspeak gibberish is not allowed. If u rite lik dis dun bother.
12. Please do not put commercial or inappropriate (adult content) links in your profile. Inappropriate links will result in immediate banning from the Forum and deletion of your account without notice. Commercial links (intention to sell something) will result in deletion of your profile without notice.
